1 Who We Are

Wokab ("we", "us", "our") operates the website wokab.in � a curated job listings platform connecting job seekers with employers across India. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle personal data collected through our platform.

We operate under the Information Technology Act, 2000, the Information Technology (Reasonable Security Practices and Procedures and Sensitive Personal Data or Information) Rules, 2011, and the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (DPDP Act).

2 Data We Collect

We collect different data depending on how you use the platform:

Job Seekers (Applicants)

• Full name
• Email address
• Phone number
• Resume / CV (document you upload)
• Any additional information you voluntarily include in your resume

Recruiters / Employers

• Name and designation
• Company name and website
• Business email address
• Password (stored in hashed, non-reversible form)
• Billing information (processed via our payment gateway; we do not store card details)
• Job listing content you create

Automatically Collected Data (All Visitors)

• IP address and approximate location
• Browser type, device type, operating system
• Pages visited, time spent, referral source
• Cookie identifiers (see Section 8)

3 How We Use Your Data

We use collected data strictly for the following purposes:

• To process job applications � forwarding your application (name, email, phone, resume) to the employer of the role you applied to
• To operate recruiter accounts � account creation, login, job posting, and applicant management
• To process payments � recruiter subscription and listing fees via our payment gateway
• To improve the platform � analytics on how the site is used (aggregated, not individual profiling)
• To prevent fraud and abuse � detecting spam applications or misuse of the platform
• To communicate with you � transactional emails (application confirmation, recruiter account alerts) only. We do not send marketing emails to job seekers without explicit opt-in.
• To comply with legal obligations � responding to lawful requests from Indian regulatory or law enforcement authorities

We do not use your data for automated decision-making, profiling, or selling to third-party advertisers.

4 Data Sharing

We share your personal data only in the following limited circumstances:

• With the employer you apply to: Your application data (name, email, phone, resume) is delivered directly to the hiring employer via email. By submitting an application, you consent to this transfer.
• With service providers: We use trusted third-party services (hosting, email delivery, analytics, payment processing) who are contractually bound to process data only as instructed and to maintain appropriate security.
• For legal compliance: We may disclose data if required by Indian law, court order, or lawful authority, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Wokab, our users, or the public.
• Business transfers: In the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your data may be transferred to the successor entity, subject to equivalent privacy protections.

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data to any third party for marketing purposes.

5 Data Retention

• Applicant data (name, email, phone, resume): Retained for up to 90 days from the date of application, then permanently deleted from our systems. The employer who received your application may retain it independently per their own policies.
• Recruiter account data: Retained for the duration of the active account. Upon account deletion, data is removed within 30 days, except where retention is required for financial record-keeping under Indian tax law (typically 7 years).
• Analytics data: Aggregated and anonymised data may be retained indefinitely for product improvement.
• Server logs: Retained for up to 30 days for security monitoring.

6 Your Rights

Under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (DPDP Act) and applicable Indian law, you have the following rights:

• Right to access: Request a summary of the personal data we hold about you
• Right to correction: Request correction of inaccurate or incomplete personal data
• Right to erasure: Request deletion of your personal data, subject to legal retention obligations
• Right to withdraw consent: Withdraw consent for data processing at any time (this will not affect prior processing)
• Right to grievance redressal: Raise a complaint with our Grievance Officer (see Section 11)

To exercise any right, email us at privacy@wokab.in. We will respond within 30 days as required under applicable law. We may ask for verification of your identity before processing the request.

7 Security

We implement reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your personal data against unauthorised access, disclosure, alteration, or destruction, including:

• HTTPS/TLS encryption for all data in transit
• Hashed storage of passwords (recruiter accounts)
• Restricted access to production databases
• Regular review of access controls

However, no system is completely secure. In the unlikely event of a data breach that poses risk to your rights, we will notify affected individuals and relevant authorities as required under Indian law.

10 Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top. For material changes, we will place a prominent notice on the homepage. Continued use of Wokab after such changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
